Human expert opinion from Neuroradiologist
Expert opinion about glioma scan will be provided along with every Glioma AI predicted scan. Giving hybrid prediction. This will not only ensure that Glioma AI is safe for patients to upload their scans for predictions but will also help neuroradiologists to trust Glioma AI as second reader of radio-genomics.
Glioma AI predictions
If the scan contains all the necessary sequences i.e. T1, T1 post contrast, T2, FLAIR and DWI and it is pre-biopsy and pre-surgery scan then Glioma AI would analyse glioma for the genetic predictions.
It is also important to note that Glioma AI is only trained to detect and characterise gliomas and not other brain lesions.
The important limitation
There are some glioma mimics that even expert human readers can struggle to distinguish from glioma. These include tumefactive demyelination, subacute infarction which enhances, infections like tuberculosis, lymphomas, and metastasis. This is not an exhausting list.
Glioma AI is trained only to identify and characterize gliomas, so if given another disease, it will not be accurate.
Therefore it is paramount to give all history and clinical features. If you have serial imaging, previous imaging, and previous CT and MRI scans of the brain, all those will help.
